Al-Tuhoo General Trading & Contracting Co. was established in Kuwait by Two brothers during the early 1950s as FMCG suppliers, mainly in the areas of canned food and beverages. The humble beginning included a small shop in Mirqab the centre of Kuwait at that time from which they sold their merchandise, and a small office on Gharabally Souq Street. The company was originally registered with the Ministry of Commerce in 1956.
After the big success that the company had, it was time to expand; and since the business was already operating the gulf region, there was enough resources to take it a step further. The two brothers then decided to import tea to Kuwait for the first time, making them the pioneers in Tea Imports. Their first tea brands were "Al-Tuhoo Tea" and "Al-Asad Tea" which gained a lot of popularity and were the market leaders of their time. By then, the company had established its head office in Mirqab.
As any successful business, we always thought about expanding and offering high quality products. In the year 1970, the company expanded its line of work into real estate, construction and trading building materials. This also aided the company in its physical expansion, as bigger location was needed due to the increase in stock. The company acquired an outlet for building materials in Shuwaikh and warehouses in Al Rai and Al Ardhiya Industrial area. This enabled the company to further expand and introduce other substantial line of products to its list of offerings; household items.
Hameed and Mohammed Ali Altuhoo Co. was being run by the successors of those two brothers until the end of 2016 during which the successor Mohammad Ali Altuhoo assumed charge of the company with the new name "AL-TUHOO GENERAL TRADING & CONTRACTING CO." . The company is now one of the major players in the construction materials industry in Kuwait with imports coming in from high quality brands from Germany, England, Italy, Korea, China, Taiwan, Switzerland, and the list goes on and on… The company is now representing many major international brands in Kuwait like Pattex-Henkel, Bartoline, Omya International, Best Business, Kanat, Interway, MTP, Pennelli Oscar, Gale Pacific etc. The company is also importing tea from Sri Lanka and India and has recently acquired some of the top franchises in the tea industry in the world such as Premier Tea and Golden Arrow-
